Celie Gruber

Celie Gruber is an abstract painter. She is trained in graphic design and received a MFA in painting from Brooklyn College in 2018. In her latest work she draws overlapping forms using contour lines without envisioning outcomes and often without looking at the surface. New, unexpected forms are created by the overlaps and filled in with color, creating intricate compositions. Most recently she uses found physical objects as stencils in combination with drawing with the body. She was born in Billings, MT in 1985 and lives and works in Long Island City, NY.
