Porter Advisory is pleased to present Blurred, an exhibition of works by Fanny Allié and Ketta Ioannidou with an opening reception with the artists on Friday, May 17 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at The Yard: Gowanus, 157 13th Street, Brooklyn, New York.

Each artist blurs the lines of reality through her work. Allié integrates collected materials such as torn garments, strips of plastic, party accessories and small pieces of found jewelry into her work. For her site specific work at The Yard she specifically collected materials from The Yard’s users who dropped items in a box for several months preceding the creation of the work. Allie’s work is inspired by the observation of people’s every day motions and actions. The combined pieces create figurative outlines blurred into existence. They question the presence of the body in the city and the ways of inhabiting spaces.  Ioannidou creates abstract images that capture movement in nature and dissipating phenomena, while attempting to blur boundaries between the tangible and the spiritual. Fleeting moments and partial realities exist through a dreamlike state in her work.

Allié and Ioannidou both create elements in their works that at first may seem disconnected, but upon closer inspection ebb and flow in a smooth transition from one style to the other. The exhibition is on view through September 6, 2019.
